Our story began over 85 years ago when Frank Dobson first started Dobsons in 1935, on the same Hertfordshire site that we remain on today. Then in the sixties and seventies we developed the business into shop fitting, fitting out many of the early local supermarkets and building societies. The eighties saw the beginning of the transformation of Dobsons into the domestic home company that we are today, with the appointment of grandson Tim Dobson and the following year saw the opening of our first showroom on our site, a window and door centre.

Helen is the Great-Granddaughter of Frank Dobson who founded the business in 1935, she joined in 2002 and has had a variety of roles in the business over the years including accounts, installations manager and kitchen designer but she is now back in her preferred role of marketing and finance. Away from the office Helen, married to Kevin, has two young children that keep her busy, plus her beloved cats and is a huge Take That fan!

Our clients love their house in Hertford Heath which they have lived in for 5 years. Unfortunately the kitchen did not live up to the rest of the property as a large pillar supporting the roof blocked the view to the rest of the garden and made the layout of the kitchen problematic. To enable the client to have the kitchen they wanted we first undertook the necessary structure work which allowed for a round steel column to replace the former much larger pillar, this column was then incorporated in the island.
